Isa Cultural Centre (ICC) marked Bahrain’s National Sports Day by organizing a comprehensive 21-day awareness program titled “The 21-Day Journey,” featuring health lectures and medical screenings aimed at promoting employee well-being and reinforcing the importance of physical activity in fostering a healthy work environment.
Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghareeb, Acting Executive Director of ICC, affirmed that celebrating Sports Day through these health initiatives reflects the Centre’s commitment to promoting physical and mental well-being and fostering a supportive work environment that encourages healthy habits, in line with official directives to build a more aware and active society.
The “21-Day Journey” program was launched as a three-week health challenge focusing on cutting out sugar, walking daily, and drinking at least two liters of water per day, encouraging the adoption of sustainable healthy habits that create a tangible lifestyle change.
The program also included an initiative to measure employees’ weight and body mass index in cooperation with Dr. Nutrition Center to raise awareness of key health indicators. A follow-up weigh-in is scheduled for February 17 at the end of the challenge, and the winning employee will receive a recognition award from the Isa Cultural Centre to motivate participants to continue their health journey.
Dr. Rabeaa Alhajri, Family Medicine Consultant and Diabetes Specialist, delivered a lecture on obesity and diabetes prevention, highlighting the role of healthy living in reducing chronic diseases. “Be Well Family Medicine and Diabetes Center” also provided medical check-ups for ICC staff to support prevention and early detection.
Addressing mental health, Dr. Dania Naji Kabli, Clinical Psychologist, along with psychologist Maryam Saleh Ali, presented a session on the connection between mental and physical health and its impact on overall well-being.
The program concluded with a group walk held at the Centre’s outdoor premises, emphasizing physical activity as a cornerstone of good health.
