HDC to participate in the General Secretariat of the GCC Historical Documentation and Studies Centers Meeting in Sharjah

The Historical Documents Centre (HDC) of Isa Cultural Centre (ICC) participated in the thirty-fifth periodic meeting of the General Secretariat of the Documentation and Studies Centers in the GCCC, hosted by Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Foundation in Sharjah, UAE. Sheikh Rashid bin Isa Al Khalifa, Director HDC, headed the delegation.

During the meeting, The members discussed the draft study prepared by the Zayed Center for Studies and Research on the history of the Arabian Gulf. The meeting also reviewed what has been accomplished of the project and initiative (Khaleejana: The Unified Digital Platform for the Arab Gulf States) prepared by the Saudi Digital History Centre, which aims to disseminate the history of GCC cultural and civilizational heritage.

It is worth noting that the General Secretariat of the Documentation and Studies Centers of GCC was established in 1976. Late Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa was honorary Chairman. It includes in its membership more than 14 centers in the Arab Gulf states concerned with documents, archives and historical studies. The General Secretariat takes the city of Riyadh as its headquarters, where the King Abdulaziz Foundation is the caretaker of the Secretariat.
